Impressions are temporary, but impacts are eternal
With his clean, catchy, and country-driven melodies, indie country singer/songwriter Justin Love has a way of crafting the perfect mix of commercially driven sounds with melancholic lyrics, making him an on-the-rise contributor to country music's indie sub-culture.
With the recent release of his debut single “Awake or When I’m Dreaming,” Love has found himself with the momentum needed for a successful, budding career in Nashville’s thriving music scene.
A four-time semi-finalist and 2019 runner-up in Nashville’s esteemed songwriting competition, Nashville Rising Song, Love has performed at some of Music City’s most notable venues, including The Listening Room Café’, The Local and Douglas Corner
Café’. In addition, Love has shared his music with listeners at the Smoky Mountain Songwriters
Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and traveled for performances across the Southern and Eastern
His single “Awake or When I’m Dreaming” placed No.23 on the Iceman Top 40 country and No.32 on the Iceman Top 40 all genre charts, earning him a Josie Music Awards nomination for Song of the Year in 2019. His second single “Like Me Like That” was released in spring of 2019 and was recorded at the world famous Dark Horse Studio in Franklin, Tennessee.
Love grew up as a youth pastor’s son, learning to perform beside his family at their hometown church in Waco, Texas. He harmonized on worship songs alongside his sisters when he was as young as 5 years old, but he truly found his calling when he was 11 and heard Chris Tomlin’s “Holy is the Lord,” on the radio. “Something inside of me just told me that, that was
what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” said Love.
After earning an associate degree in commercial music from McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, Love intended to pursue a four-year degree from the University of North Texas; however, he was dissuaded by his professors, who instructed him to go to Nashville.
Love wasted no time, packed up his life and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2013.
Shortly thereafter, he wrote his first country song, “Baby I Still Do,” and hasn’t looked back. “Since I moved here, I call Nashville my home while Texas is now home away from home,” said Love.
While Love enjoys all styles of music, he says that country music gives him the opportunity to impact others in a way that other genres would not. “My life revolves around hassles and heartbreaks,” said Love. “Country music is what I use to say what I need to say, and
for others who need to hear it.”
His single “Awake or When I’m Dreaming” (co-written by Justin Love and Corey Lee Barker; produced by Jason Wyatt and executive produced by Matt Rovey) was inspired by a close friend, bearing resemblance to a mix of Keith Urban with a hint of Bon Jovi. “It’s a beautiful misery of wishing you could be with that certain someone, but knowing that you can’t,” said Love.
As a writer and multi-instrumentalist, Love continues to develop his craft by drawing from the musical influences of Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Jessie Lee, Dan + Shay, Ryan Hurd and current co-writers like Corey Lee Barker. “He has a way of finding the perfect way of phrasing something versus my hick, ridiculous way of saying it,” said Love.
Being a part of country music’s indie subculture, Love has successfully learned to thrive and differentiate himself within a melting pot of talent that spans across all genres. “You’re trying so hard to not be background noise,” said Love. “You get on stage and you’re trying your hardest to captivate an audience, but I’ve figured out that it’s not about impressions – it’s about
His newest single titled "I WANNA" was released on July 16th and is said to be one of his game changing songs in both his music and his sound. It also won him judges pick in the Global Rising Song contest out of 23 songwriters with an outstanding score 915 of 1,000 points by judges votes. The song was written with his good time friend and phenomenal co-writer Troy Castellano.
He has also recently won an award in the category for pop song of the year at the TSAI awards with a song he co-wrote titled, "Kiss Me Back".
Despite the chaos of current situations with covid-19, Justin continues to write and perform all over Nashville and is currently in production of his next single "Went Looking For Me" which he plans to release in late October.
